Aqua Polymers runs a research laboratory with up-to-date instrumentation and qualified staff, able to develop water-based polyurethane coatings. The synthesis is then transferred to plants of different capacity, according to the volume required.
Non-yellowing. A polyurethane dispersion free from free isocyanate, designed for base layers that need to stay flexible over time.
A dispersion free from free isocyanate for surface finishes, compatible with a wide range of acrylic emulsions.
A polycarbonate base for coatings that need to withstand hydrolysis and abrasion longer than average.
A dispersion free from free isocyanate for anchoring layers on natural leather and textile substrates.
Water-based polyurethanes use water as the dispersing medium: they are cleaner and safer to handle than solvent-based dispersions. According to the synthesis of the monomers they are divided into polyether, polyester or mixed bases; according to the diisocyanates used, into aliphatic and aromatic.
They can form soft or rigid films, matt, clear or gloss: the characteristics are defined during synthesis, together with the customer.
